We are thrilled to announce that work is complete on our new secondary building. The SbS building committee held its final meeting to oversee the finishing touches to this incredible project.

Designed by local architect Les Bain and built by Avondale Associates, the building replaces the old barns next to our administration offices.

As well as 3 large classrooms, the new block contains a fully equipped kitchen, a shower room and toilets which will be a key part of our secondary curriculum where the children will learn valuable self-help skills.

First School Open Morning at
Step by Step

Step by Step held its first Open Morning back in November.

We invited parents of primary aged children with a diagnosis of autism who are looking for autism specific teaching to come and meet our School Director and staff. The morning included a short talk on our methodology as well as a tour of the school.

We also showed video film of our 1:1 and group work so that parents could see and ask questions about our teaching methods.

Vincent Carbone at Step by Step

We were excited to welcome Dr Vincent Carbone, a leading ABA expert who came to Step by Step to provide staff with two days of advanced ABA training.

Dr Carbone is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst with over 30 years experience within the field of autism and special educational needs. He is the director of a clinic in New York which serves learners with autism.

Many of the staff at Step by Step have already attended Dr Carbone's Introduction to Verbal Behaviour course and found this hugely
beneficial. The two day course provided more advanced training which can be specially adapted to our school environment.

Dr Carbone is a very motivational speaker who provides staff with valuable training to help them teach important skills to the pupils at Step by Step.
