Step by Step is a small independent day school for pupils with autism. We provide specialised teaching for pupils aged 4 to 16 who have a diagnosis on the autistic spectrum. The latest OFSTED Inspection (January 2009) judged us as ‘outstanding’ in all areas.

We're based in East Grinstead and serve a wide area of Local Education Authorities in the South East. These include: East and West Sussex, Sutton, Bromley, Bexley, Lewisham, Kent, Surrey and Brighton & Hove.

We help pupils develop the skills, understanding and confidence to reach their
full potential and, as far as possible, lead full and independent lives.

Our school was founded in 2003 by a group of parents who had been running home education programmes. The aim was to provide a highly specialised approach to meet each pupil’s individual and autism specific needs within the social setting of a school.
